I am on a life-time journey of Health and Wellness. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a Healer. I always thought I wanted to practice modern medicine, but have discovered my passion is Holistic Health. I'm a massage therapist, a chiropractor and a yogi-in-training. I find fulfillment in the work I do. My job is to help people find balance. It is very rewarding.

Rain Rain…

It’s not that I don’t love the rain…I just hate driving in it! That’s probably while I’m still in my PJ’s, drinking coffee and “trying” to plan my day. So instead of daydreaming, I’ll just blog my thoughts…

Last night we had our final Yoga Teacher Training class, followed by a Graduation Dinner at Ortega’s in Hillcrest. These last 9 weeks have been truly amazing. We had a sharing night about what this teacher training night meant to us. It was pretty awesome to see how much it had changed everyone’s life in some way. I didn’t share, but I still have this same feeling. I can remember a year and half ago stepping into the Hillcrest CPY studio with Sasha, not sure what to expect. At the time I was going through a huge change in my life and was searching for something to help balance everything. I came out of that C2 class with this amazing feeling of blissfulness. I felt as if all the chaos around me was just a minor distraction. There has definitely been some major up and downs since then, but keeping the balance has really helped me get through the rough times.

I have this feeling that my training doesn’t stop here. I have repeated the statement before ”yoga is a journey, not a destination”. I look forward to this journey and all the opportunities that it brings!

Family

Tonight we had everyone from Alaska who was in town for the Native Wellness Youth Conference over for dinner. My parents made a feast, lit the fireplace, set the tables and I entertained (well I helped entertain). I know my parents enjoy when Alaskan family comes to San Diego. The have been living in San Diego now for 6 months and sometimes get homesick.

The kids were adorable. A couple of the girls performed some of the Indian songs they have been learning. The songs are all in our language. I am so proud that they are learning their language and at such a young age. Tomorrow they head back to Alaska and back to school with hopefully some good stories to share.

Tonight I am working on yoga playlist, finishing journal entries and making sure my final written is complete for my last class tomorrow. It was definitely a long, but productive day!

Good Night

So much to do…not enough time

Well I guess if I was better at prioritizing and planning, this statement wouldn’t be so true. It seems I have so much going on in my life right now and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. I’ve always been good at making my list of “to do’s”, but lately I seem to be storing everything in head. This isn’t such a great idea since I’ve already forgot half of my to do’s as I am sitting her writing this blog.

Today I spent 3 hours working on a written final exam for my yoga class. I wasn’t planning on working on it till later, but I am so glad I started early rather than later. Tomorrow is my last official day of training, but I still have quite a bit of work to do before I am finished. This journey into yoga has been amazing. There have been times where all I do is yoga (eat, sleep, breathe) and there are times that all I want to do is forget about yoga. I think I am the type of person who goes full throttle and then burns out. Hmmm…maybe I should practice what I preach…Balance!

I have a great opportunity awaiting me and it involves getting a yoga program started. So I am taking in all I can right now because I know I’m going to need it in the next couple months. I better get started on that to do list!

Last official week

This is my last official week of yoga teacher training. It feels like the last two months have just flown by. I still have hours I need to fulfill by the end of the month so I am going to be a busy yogi. I am so excited and blessed for what is in store for me. Yoga has changed my life and I hope that I can use it to help others. I’m already committing myself to CPY’s extension program this January. There is so much to more to learn!

This week I am meeting with the director of the Native Wellness Institute about working with them in the future. This has always been one of my goals…to give back to the Native community. I just happened to meet the director last month while I was in Palm Springs and told her my story and where I see my practice taking me. She invited me to come meet with them this month while they are in town for the Native Youth and Elder Conference. Exciting!

I am also looking into different yoga instructor positions. I know that this will open doors to further build my practice. The possibilities are endless! I found this quote today.

“Greatness is not measured by what a man or woman accomplishes, but by the opposition he or she  has to overcome to reach his [or her] goals.” –Dr. Dorothy Height
